 Bishop Bill and Janet Guthrie

        Pastor Guthrie and Janet met in Pensacola, Florida in 1968. Janet's father, George A. Harne, pastored the "T" Street Church of God and Bill was assigned to the U.S. Navy Communications Training Center at Corey Field.  They were married in February 1969 and were stationed at Skaggs Island NSGA, California. In 1971 they were transferred to San Vito, Italy where they also served as director of the Pentecostal Servicemen's Fellowship until 1973, when they were transferred to Homestead, FLorida.

        Pastor Guthrie was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1975 after 8 1/2 years of service, then served three years as Minisrter of Youth and Christian Education, and Music Minister at the Homestead Church of God.

        The Guthries came to Daytona Beach in July 1978 with two sons, Billy 5 and John 3. A year later in November 1979 they had a daughter, Caryn, born at Halifax Hospital. The children all graduated from Mainland High School and attended Stetson University in DeLand, FL. Billy and Caryn both teach in Volusia County. John, married to Jennifer, is in Monroe, Washington with four grandchildren: Melody, 13; Li'l John, 5; Joy, 3; and Joseph, 2. Caryn and Damian King, in DeLand, are proud parents of Sadie Grayce, born June 24, 2007.
